I have not, as perhaps I should have done, sent you a formal reply to your letter of February 28 but I think you understood that we have no objection to your coming and inspecting the portraits here, subject to the convenience of the Society in the matter of meetings, etc. If the question arises of your reproducing any of them we shall no doubt have a special application from you.'
