| Description | Sir Joseph Larmor has asked for the decision of the Physics and Chemistry Committee on Mrs Ayrton's paper, together with a lengthy referee report, be communicated to him [no enclosures]. The Committee were unanimous in deciding that publication should be restricted to the descriptive experimental part of the paper, omitting the author's theory and deductions from the experiments, at any rate unless it is revised from the point of view of hydrodynamics, and that the illustrations should be limited to eight figures out of the twelve which were sent in, the remaining four being considered superfluous. If Poynting can arrange for the author's acceptance, the paper can go ahead for 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. |
