TitleCopy letter from John Rose Bradford, to The Secretary, The Nigerian Company
Date7 March 1911
DescriptionThe President of the Royal Society has received a letter from the President of the Imperial Society of Naturalists at Moscow asking for the influence of the Royal Society to secure such assistance as the Nigerian Company might be able to afford to a zoological expedition which is being sent out to Nigeria by the Moscow Society. The expedition is for a purely scientific purpose and will comprise M G A Belogolowoi, university lecturer, with the two assistants, who propose to undertake the investigations into the embryology of the crossopterygian and dipnoan fishes, for the study of which the West Africa rivers offer special opportunities.

The members of the expedition desire to be allowed to make use of the quarters belonging to the Nigerian Company in the region near the mouth of the Forcados River, and speak of Asse as a suitable headquarters for their work, which they propose to carry out during the months June to November this year.

The President of the Royal Society wishes to express on behalf of the Royal Society the hope that the Nigerian Company will do everything in their power to further the objects of the expedition under reference.
