Description | Larmor is directed by the President and Council to transmit to the Lords Commissions of HM Treasury thanks of the Royal Society for their intimation that they propose to provide a grant of £5000 in the present year towards the new buildings required for the National Physical Laboratory. The Executive Committee of the Laboratory have pointed out that the plan of extension considered and adopted includes an expenditure of about £20,000 on buildings; and they consider that the further capital outlay involved in transfer of the Laboratory work from Kew , and adaption to other uses of the rooms to be set free at Bushy House can hardly fall short of £10,000 more. The President and Council therefore beg leave that some assurance may be granted that it is intended to make further provision for this purpose in future estimates. |
