| Description | 'Mr Buttery's estimate for cleaning and repairing the RS pictures.
I have seen Mr Buttery to-day at his request, and he handed me the enclosed letter and estimate on the subject of the five pictures handed over to him in pursuance of the decision recently arrived at.
He explained to me in detail the nature of the treatment the pictures required, and the laborious care demanded in carrying it out. In the light of this, he estimate (considering his acknowledged great skill) seems to me reasonable, but if you are not satisfied I should be glad if you would yourself see him and hear what he has to say.' |
