TitleCopy letter from the President of the Royal Society [Archibald Geikie] to the Town Clerk, Guildhall
Date1 March 1912
DescriptionThe Royal Society intends to celebrate on the 16th and 18th July next the 250th anniversary of its foundation by Charles II. As the Society in its early days was closely connected with the City of London Geikie requests whether it would be possible to obtain use of the Guildhall on the evening of Tuesday, 16th July. Geikie mentioned that His Majesty the King is taking an interest in the Celebration and has been graciously pleased to intimate his attention of giving a garden party in honour of the occasion.
