Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Lt. General J [James] F [Francis] Tennant FRS |
Date | 3 February 1913 |
Description | 'I send a further line, following my letter of Saturday, to say that the John Tennent MD, who appears in our list for 1765 with his name spelt as above, is not in the Dictionary of National Biography, but Smithson Tennant is, and he is described as being the son of Calvert Tennant, Vicar of Selby in Yorkshire, and having lived from 1761 to 1815. He appears to have been a distinguished chemist and to have been appointed Professor of Chemistry at Cambridge two years before his death by accident. If you still desire to read the full article I shall, as I said on Saturday, be happy to send the volume downstairs for you at any time when you may be inclined to call.' |
