| Description | 'The Council yesterday decided to ask you to be one of four delegates from the Royal Society to the General Assembly of the International Association of Academies, which is to be held at St Petersburg at Whitsuntide, and I am to ask you to be good enough to let me know whether you are willing to undertake this duty.
The St Petersburg Academy has not yet set us any agenda paper for the meeting, but some of the subjects that will come up for discussion are known and they will include reports upon several of the matters that occupied the Association at its last General Assembly.'
