TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Governor General of India
Date31 December 1891
DescriptionFoster believes that the Governor already knows that William Martin Conway wishes to explore the high glacier regions of the Karakoram mountains with H G Bruce, Oscar Eckenstein, and a Swiss guide. He states that the President and Council of the Royal Society, due to their belief in the valuable additions to knowledge in the areas of geology, botany and zoology of the region likely to arise from the expedition, have assigned 100 pounds from the Government Grant to the group to assist their scientific research.

Foster also states that they understand that the Royal Geographical Society have given their approval and material support to the expedition, and he is directed by the President and Council to hope that the efforts of Conway's expedition be met with the Governor's approval and any assistance he is able to grant him.
