TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Few & Company
Date20 April 1891
DescriptionWith regard to the Duke of Norfolk's mortgage, Rix notes that he has sent the Royal Society's Treasurer, John Evans, the cheque for signature, and Evans will forward it to them. Evans has told Rix that the deed needs to be signed and sealed next Thursday, but that if they are not ready, there is also a Council on the 30th.

Rix does not know if he shall have to make an affadavit as to the sealing of the deed, but if so, he reminds them of his preference for affirmation. He does not know the formula for this, but if it involves a declaration to the effect that he is member of the Society of Friends, which he is not, or to the effect an oath would not be binding on his conscience, he is not prepared to make it, and so would have to make the usual affadavit, even though he dislikes it.
