Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Thomas Sterry Hunt, Park Avenue Hotel, New York, [USA] |
Date | 13 May 1891 |
Description | Rix was pleased to hear from Hunt, but regrets that Hunt is still unwell, and shares the fact that in England there has been 'much sickness for some months past', but they are hoping that matters will improve with better weather. He is glad to hear of the completion of Hunt's work despite his illness.
Hunt has sent a cheque for five pounds, which is a pound too much, and so Rix asks what he should do with the excess. He offers the following options - a refund by cheque; for the money to be considered Hunt's contribution to the portrait of the Royal Society's late President, Sir George Gabriel Stokes, being painted by Sir Hubert Herkomer; for the money to be saved towards the next year's subscription. |
