TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Wilton & Sons, 3 Northumberland Buildings, Queen Square, Bath
Date3 June 1891
DescriptionRix informs them that their letter of 29 April was presented to the President and Council of the Royal Society at their meeting the previous Thursday, and he is instructed to say that the Society accepts the gift bequeathed by the late Mr Thomas Kerslake. The chair will be preserved with the other 'museum relics' of Sir Isaac Newton, which the Society already possesses.

Rix is also instructed to ask whether they know anything about the history of the chair, or its provenance in general. With regard to the query about how the chair should be sent, he just asks that it is carefully packed with plenty of padding, and sent by whatever agency they think best. The correct address is given.
