Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir George Gabriel Stokes, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 28 September 1891 |
Description | Rix requests Stokes' advice in dealing with an application from Mr Michie Smith for the appointment arising from the death of Mr Pagson, which came to the Royal Society addressed to the Secretary of the Indian Observatories Committee. Rix does not know whether anyone is acting in that capacity, and believes that the application should have gone to the Indian Office. He has had no response to his letter to General Strachey, so now refers to Stokes for his thoughts on the matter. |
