TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir Howard Grubb, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date5 October 1891
DescriptionLord Rayleigh has asked Rix to enquire of Grubb whether Dr Main intimated that he was willing for the telescope, which he presented to the Royal Society, should be used in Britain. He believes that it was originally intended for the Engadine, and was to have been used by Mr McConnell, who died before he could do so.

Rix also asks how matters stand with regard to completion of the telescope. He would appreciate an early reply, as the Committee are due to meet to discuss the matter on 15 October.
