Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Arthur William Rücker, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 16 February 1891 |
Description | Rix believes that Rücker would have been surprised at receiving Mr Henry Wilde's paper for report, given that he and Professor William Edward Ayrton had already written a joint report on it.
He explains that that report never reached the Royal Society, and although Ayrton was aware of this, he was taken ill before he could re-write the report as intended. With Ayrton still too unwell to attend to the matter, Rix writes at Lord Rayleigh's instruction, to ask if Rücker would consider his report to contain the substance of the joint opinion shared with Ayrton. If so, they can proceed to vote upon the paper next Thursday, without causing another month's delay. |
