DescriptionHe will be interested to know that the Council have this summer made the following allocations to scientific research by means of the donation which Caird was good enough to give to the Royal Society: £200 in aid of seismological research on the lines laid down by the later Professor Milne, and £500 towards the cost of completing the new Magnetic Survey of the British Isles now in progress under the direction of a joint Committee of the British Assocation and the Society.
