I beg to make application for the payment of Five Hundred Pounds (£500), being the first moiety of the grant of £1000 for 1915-1916 in aid of the expense of the Magnetic Observatory at Esdalemuir.
I should be glad if you would arrange for the payment to be made to the Royal Society's Trusts Account at Messrs Coutts & Co, 15 Lombard Street, EC.'
