Description'The paper you wished to submit to the Royal Society on "Valency" has been carefully looked through notwithstanding its being not formally before the Society, and I am authorized by the authority to whom it was submitted to say that it is not considered suitable for publication by the Society. I am therefore directed to return you the copy you left with me, together with your diagrams.
It is open to you of course to submit the paper to the Chemical Society if you think fit.'
