DescriptionInforms Messrs Newton, Chambers & Co. that their letter relating to Mr. Clifford Machell will be laid before the Committee which has been appointed to deal with cases arising out of the regulation of the Board of Trade [defining analytical chemists as having a reserved occupation]. Also informs them that at present it is the duty of the recruiting officer to obtain the consent of the Royal Society to the enlistment of any analytical chemist who wishes, with his employers concurrence, to enlist.
