Title | Copy letter from Joseph John Thomson, President of the Royal Society; to [Sir Henry Frank Heath], Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research; Great George Street, Westminster, S.W. |
Date | 5 April 1917 |
Description | Response to an earlier letter from the Secretary on the National Physical Laboratory. Notes that the letter made clear what previously had not been understood: 1) that the proposals invovle the transference of the property of the National Physical Laboratory from the Society to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, 2) the transference of the presentation of reports of the Executive Committee of the Laboratory from the Society to the Department, and 3) the transference of the power of revising the scientific recommendations of the Executive Committee from the Society to the Department. Notes that the Council have considered this letter and have asked that a complete scheme of the proposed new Constitution of the Laboratory should, if possible, be submitted to them before a decision is made. |
