TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to unknown correspondent
Date24 November 1919
DescriptionAdvises female recipient [not named] that there was an error regarding her visit the previous Friday afternoon, that there had been no previous appointment by telephone, and he could not have made one for the afternoon she called as he was engaged with a Committee. Says 'your name was sent up with no more statement of business than that you called on behalf of Madam [Maria Tecla Artemisia] Montessori,' He responded at the time that he could not see her, and that she had probably been mistaken as to which society she intended to visit. Advises the Royal Society is not concerned with any subject associated with the name of Madam Montessori [primarily education]. Advises that if she had stated her exact business, and it was within the purview of the Royal Society, then a meeting might easily have been arranged, and if she had done so she might immediately have seen a member of staff who could have assisted.
