Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Dr. [Walter William] Rouse Ball; Trinity College, Cambridge |
Date | 5 November 1920 |
Description | Informs Dr. [Walter William] Rouse Ball that the Assistant Secretary [Dr. Edwin Deller] has found a 'curious box containing cubes of wood' which appears to be some kind of calculating machine. Notes that Colonel [Henry George] Lyons initially thought it might be a part of an old instrument of [Charles] Babbage, however, has receded from that view. Further notes that he is having the box sent to Dr. Rouse Ball, and asks that he let them know whether it is anything of interest. |
