TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Chief Librarian, Public Library, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Date31 March 1892
DescriptionIn reply to the Chief Librarian's letter of 18 January, Rix is instructed by the Royal Society's Committee to explain that the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers' is upon quite a different footing from the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. It is not published by the Society but by a private firm and the number of gratuitous copies presented to the Society is limited. The Committee is therefore unable to accede to the request to present a copy to the Public Library.
