Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Prof. [Thomas Ralph] Merton, FRS |
Date | 14 May 1924 |
Description | Updates Thomas Ralph Merton on the situation regarding the paper 'The ultraviolet spark spectra on some of the elements' by [R. J.] Lang. Thanks Merton for his report and that [Alfred] Fowler has reported favourably on the paper, mentioning an improvement since the first presentation. States that having spoken to Rayleigh [Robert John Strutt] it has been decided to ask if Merton would like to press his objection to the paper's publication. If not, then the Committee will need to be updated on the situation, and to allow them to publish the paper in Transactions. Says that both James Hopwood Jeans and Fowler will be available to discuss the matter tomorrow if need be. Includes an extract from Fowler's report. |
