DescriptionIn Currie's letter of 28 September was enclosed a dispatch from Mr Greville, number 103, from Rio de Janeiro dated 26 August, stating that the request of the President and Council in reference to the proposed eclipse expedition has been refereed to the Brazilian Minister of War. Foster is instructed to enquire whether any further communication has been received and is to add that the President and Council only ask for facilities usually extended to scientific expeditions such as permission to land instruments free from certain regulations et cetera.
