Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir Archibald Geikie, Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 16 December 1892 |
Description | Rix has received replies from all the gentlemen invited to attend the two jubilees. The only one who accepts the invitation to the Hermite celebration is A G Greenhill. Sir Henry Roscoe and Sir Joseph Lister both accept invitations to the Pasteur celebration.
With respect to the Hermite celebration Rix encloses a letter from Dr Glaisher [not attached] who brings a very serious charge against Hermite and Rix imagines that it may be a question whether the Royal Society should under the circumstances be represented. Rix leaves this decision to Geikie and the other Officers. Greenhill leaves for Paris next Wednesday so that if he is to represent the Society a letter should be in his hands before that date. |
