Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Harvey & Gore, 1 Vigo Streeet, W. |
Date | 20 March 1893 |
Description | Rix learns today that the arms on the ivory snuff-box are those of a contemporary of Sir Isaac Newton. Rix wonders if the Messrs can not learn from their client what grounds she has for saying that the box belonged to Newton. Especially whether she has any written document to that effect, or, if not, from whom she heard the tradition and how far back it can be traced. The box may of course have been presented to Newton and it is this possibility which interests the Society. |
