The Officers instruct me to tell you that they cannot accept the plates which you have done for Mr Newton's paper. Your second attempt is no better than the first, and both are very much below the mark. The fault is apparently not in the printing, but in your negative. The Officers do not propose to have the series printed from these negatives, and they do not consider that they ought to be called upon to pay for so unusual a failure.
