Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Arthur Keen, 4 Raymond Buildings, Gray's Inn, W.C. |
Date | 17 November 1893 |
Description | Rix asks that, with regard to Dr Muller's instructions about the paraffin, that he wait until he has consulted with Captain William de Wiveleslie Abney. He asks whether Muller decided anything about whether a larger pipe for the fan was needed, as this was the point which he was asked by the Committee to come down and decide. Rix states that whatever his decision was, ought to be done. He asserts that the switch for the fan should be in the meeting room, and not the basement, so Keen should communicate with Messrs Drake & Gorham on this point at once. This matter has Dr Michael Foster's authority.
Rix also states that the permanent dais may be begun, and notes that it is to be two inches higher than the temporary dais, and 1 1/2 inches nearer to the experimental table. The blackboard must be four inches higher, which the Treasurer has suggested may be achieved by placing a four inch batten under the feet to which the casters are currently attached. He further states that the dais on which the officers' chairs stand is to be covered with carpet, with the old carpet being both large enough and good enough for this purpose. The remainder of the platform is to be covered in linoleum. The screens may be stained a dark brown. |
