Dulau states that the biggest obstacle to the sale of 'Philosophical Transactions', is that people will not buy an expensive volume for the sake of a single paper which they want.
The cost of prooducing a volume of 'Philosophical Transactions' is less than one third of the published price. They already supply Fellows at one third, and he suggests that in cases where they have a large stock they should offer the surplus to Dulau at one-fourth published price, or unstitched sheets at 10 percent less than that. If Evans can authorise this arrangement, he will proceed with the matter at once. |
