Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt], Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 5 April 1894 |
Description | As instructed by the Soiree Sub-Committee, Rix has ascertained from Professor Hughes the particulars of an exhibit offered by Eric Bruce, and writes to let Rayleigh know if the exhibit is suitable. Hughes has called to let Rix know that he has seen the experiments, and though he cannot recall the details, found them interesting and 'quite scientific' and therefore suitable for the Royal Society's Soirée. The exhibit is described by Bruce as "The multiplication phenomena exhibited when objects in motion are projected on to the incidental disc of an aerial graphoscope".
Rix asks if he may accept the exhibit. He also states that Hughes has suggested that Sir D Salomons might be invited to show his "Production of Discs in Vacuum Tubes", and asks whether he should also invite him. |
