Your letter of February 1st was laid before the President and Council of the Royal Society. I am directed to inform you that the Council regret that they will not be able to send a delegate to represent this Society on the interesting occasion of your Thirteenth Anniversary, none of our Fellows being within practicable distance of San Francisco.
