Your letter of April 24th has been laid before the President and Council of the Royal Society, and I am directed to inform you that they approve of the suggestions contained in that letter, namely, that the Joint Eclipse Committee should report both to the Royal Society and to the Royal Astronomical Society, and that each Society should elect its part of the Committee annually. The President and Council further agree that Mr G. Johnstone Stoney should be one of the members representing the Royal Society on the Committee.
