Description | Rix has heard of Heath's recent, or imminent, departure from Miss Buss's school, and asks if she will be free after Whitsuntide. If so, he asks if she would like to fill any gap between this and any subsequent appointment by undertaking some work for a Committee of the Royal Society appointed to conduct statistical inquiries into the 'Measurable Characteristics of Plants and Animals'. She would be working alongside another woman taking careful measurements of animals and plants. Rix reports that the pay is only 1 shilling an hour, but suggests that this may be acceptable as a stop-gap until she is able to find better work.
If Heath decides to take on the suggested work, Rix asks that she write to the Secretary of the Committee, Professor Weldon, and at the same time send a postcard to Rix to inform him of her decision. Until Tuesday evening, Rix's address is noted as being care of Mr Haselwood, 3 Lennox Place, Brighton. |
