TitleCopy letter from [Herbert Rix] to [Sir John Evans, Royal Society]
Date[6 July 1894]
DescriptionRix notes that Mrs Kennedy has reported that it will be impossible to look after an additional room without additional help. She has reminded him that the staff has grown from 5 to 15 in the time she has worked there, and will soon grow to 19, meaning that the cleaning work is more than double what it was. Further, due to the 'incessant little teas', additional fires and comforts expected by Dr Michael Foster, their housekeeping work is doubled, and they often have to assist the charwoman with her work.

Kennedy asks for at least another charwoman. Rix reports that Kennedy has given a 'very curious and amusing account of the gradual growth' of her work since Foster's 'reign' began, and suggests that they have not noticed until now as it has been little by little, but the new Catalogue Room is 'the last straw'.
