Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Michael Foster |
Date | 7 November 1887 |
Description | Rix encloses Sir G Richards' memo [not attached]. Sir J Hooker's memo received from Foster this morning has gone to press. Rix has been very busy with the accountant but hopes to start the Council Minutes tonight.
Regarding the question of the size of volumes [of Royal Society publications] he thinks this a matter for the Treasurer. Of late years the Society has issued three parts a year. By dividing the series A and B ['Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society]', each is reduced to a part and a half. This is too thick for one part and too small for two unless Foster means to go in for very thin parts like 'Archaeologia'. This is the question the Officers have to decide and it all turns upon the expense involved such as cloth covers and the increased clerical work. |
