DescriptionRix fears he cannot give Brown any information about Francis Smethwick except that he was elected as a Fellow on 4 April 1667 and admitted on 16th May of the same year. The 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' contain two papers by Smethwick; one on grinding glasses, volume III, page 631, and the other on a solar eclipse, volume XI, page 637.
