TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Lord Kelvin [John William Strutt], Fellow of the Royal Society
Date6 November 1894
DescriptionEncloses a list of the ages of deceased Fellows with the exception of the names mentioned in Strutt's letter [not attached].

Strutt's suggestions as to the list of elected, deceased et cetera are quite contrary to the Society's practice in the last two centuries and Rix fears they would falsify the Society's statistics. Lord Rasing withdrew nearly a year before he died and his withdrawl was announced and printed in the minutes. Defaulters have always been so printed and Rix does not clearly see why Lord Thurlow [Thomas John Hovell-Thurlow Cumming-Bruce] should be an exception. Rix will however mention Strutt's wishes to the other Officers and they will doubtless consult with Strutt before the list is published.
