DescriptionThe Royal Society has to advise the Treasury concerning the presentation of 58 complete sets of the 'Challenger' Reports and the President and Council ask the recipients of this letter to join the Challenger Committee to whom they have deputed the task of making the selection.

Encloses [not attached]: a list of institutions to whom the Lords have given copies up to the present; a list of institutions provisionally adopted by the Committee as suitable for recommendation; a list of institutions needing further inquiries; and a list of applications made to the Treasury, Royal Society, and Dr John Murray.

Asks the recipients to consider the inclosed for a meeting to occur shortly. If they are unable to attend they can mark institutions as suitable or decidedly unsuitable.
