TitleCopy letter from A H White, to Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt], Secretary, Royal Society
Date4 September 1895
DescriptionAsks is he can set up the six pages of obituary of J D Dana by Mr Fletcher. Dr [Michael] Foster is now abroad till early October.

Professor Mendeleef's assistant, Mr Blumbach from the Board of Trade, called on Saturday with the English version of the paper which Mendeleef wishes to communicate. White understood Blumbach to say that Mendeleef's wish was to have the paper printed at once in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. White explained that this could not take place till November at the very earliest. White suggested Mendeleef should write to Rayleigh on the subject. Blumbach was to meet Mendeleef in Paris that night and did not leave the manuscript.
