Description | 'Dear Sir, I note that on page 506 of the Calendar for 1896 just received, the Royal Society of Edinburgh is described simply as "Royal Society". This is apt to be a fertile source of mistake, as the two societies ^(this & that)^ are absolutely and in every respect distinct. I notice that the words "of Edinburgh" are carefully added in the cases of the "Royal College of Physicians" and "Surgeons"; they should be similarly added in the case of the "Royal Society of Edinburgh". I am, yours truly, H Rix Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'. |
