DescriptionFoster is directed by the President and Council of the Royal Society to express their regret at the difficulties Langley has encountered with Dr Gulland's paper, and to tell him that Gulland's figures will be returned to him immediately and a copy of the letter press sent as soon as possible; further, he states a grant of 15 pounds has been made by the President and Council in aid of its publication in the Journal of Physiology.

They have also granted 10 pounds in aid of the publication of a paper by Professor [Edward Albert] Schafer in the Journal of Physiology on the spleen, which at Schafer's wish has been forwarded to Langley.
