Date11 March 1896
Description'Dear Sir,
In answer to yours of the 18th February, Col. [Colonel] Waterhouse's papers shall be laid before the Council when the claims of candidates are considered. There is no likelihood or their being omitted, as it is a regular system with us to bring forward all such books and papers sent in support of candidature. We have a definite place for keeping them and they are brought forward on the proper day as a matter of routine. The papers have not yet come to hand but we shall look out for their arrival.
I am, yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
