TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Henry Benedict Medlicott, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date15 April 1896
DescriptionRix apologises for the appearance of the word 'Retired' by General MacMahon's printed certificate, and states that although it was erased when Medlicott wrote last year, the printers had used old type from the previous year, and either due to them or an error or the Royal Society's Clerk, this was not corrected. He will speak to the Clerk to ensure the mistake is not repeated.

He further answers his query, stating that any Fellow of the Society may sign the certificate of any candidate without reference to the proposer.
