TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Agent General for Cape Colony
Date19 June 1896
DescriptionAs the Agent General is aware the Government has appointed Dr Roland Trimen FRS as a delegate to represent it in the approaching International Conference concerning a Catalogue of Scientific Literature.

Foster is directed to suggest the desirability of the Cape Colony Government appointing Dr David Gill FRS, Her Majesty's Astronomer at the Cape of Good Hope as a Delegate in addition to Dr Trimen. Gill's presence at the conference would be so highly valued by his colleagues that it is hoped the Agent General may be able by telegraph or otherwise to obtain from the Cape Colony Government a decision as to his being appointed before 14th July, when the conference begins.
