DescriptionThe Committee appointed by the Royal Society to consider the organisation needed for an International Catalogue of Scientific Literature, has, in the course of its deliberation, requested the Astronomer Royal and Mr [Joseph] Norman Lockyer, to act as a Sub-Committee dealing with the classification of Astronomy.

Rucker and Foster are directed by the Society to express the hope that the RAS will be willing to assist in an important work by giving to these gentlemen such aid as they may desire, and that they may be able and disposed to afford.
