Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the Secretary, The Admiralty, Whitehall |
Date | 8 April 1897 |
Description | During the last summer My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, at the request of the President and Council of the Royal Society, were good enough to assist Mr Fowler in some zoological investigations in the old water area of the Orkney Islands by offering hospitality on board the HMS 'Research', and by giving him other assistance. Fowler has thus been able to make some valuable observations, part of which have since been published. Fowler desires to repeat his observations with improved methods. The Society understands that the HMS 'Research' will in the ensuing summer be employed in the same station and Foster is directed, whilst renewing the thanks of the Society for previous assistance, to express the hopes that the Lords will be able and willing to offer Fowler hospitality and assistance during July or August similar to that so kindly given before. |
