TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Secretary to Her Majesty's Treasury, Whitehall, S.W.
Date13 May 1897
DescriptionAn application from the Expedition Antarctique Belge to the Royal Society for copies of several volumes of the 'Challenger' reports has been received. Provides a list of 25 different volumes asked for. Some volumes are required in duplicate.

The Committee of the Royal Society have no hesitation in very strongly recommending that this application should be acceded to so far as possible; and though there are several other applications under consideration concerning which Foster hopes to have the honour of addressing the Secretary before long, he is directed at once to ask the Secretary to bring this particular application before the Lords, since the matter is urgent in view of the preparations being made for the Expedition. Henryk Arctowski, Chef du Service, 51 Upper Bedford Place, W.C., is authorized to receive the volumes on behalf of the expedition.
