TitleCopy draft letter from Arthur William Rucker, to the Sectional Committee of Physics and Chemistry referees on the Report of the Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee
Datend [c 22 May 1897]
DescriptionThe Committee of Papers desires that the attention of the Referees, whom the Sectional Committee on Physics and Chemistry may appoint to consider the Report of the Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee, should be drawn to the following points.

Reports on successful observations made during eclipses have always appeared in the '[Philosophical] Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. The recent solar eclipse was obscured by clouds at the station selected by the Committee, but as the Report on that Eclipse is longer than papers ordinarily published in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]', and as it may be considered convenient that it should be published in the same form as those on previous eclipses, it is desirable that the Referees should take into account the convenience of astronomers in the reports which they make to the Committee.
