TitleCopy letter from [Arthur William Rucker], to Sir George Baden Powell
Date12 July 1897
DescriptionDoes not understand[?] Sir George's enquiry but fears it is quite possible that the [eclipse] paper may not be published until the autumn. The plan is to reproduce each photograph and to have a drawing made in which the characteristics shown in all the photographs shall be combined.

They decided to publish the results in both forms. The second method has been applied to previous eclipses and the drawing must be made by an astronomical expert. For this they are employing Mr Wesley the Secretary of the Astronomical Society who has given great satisfaction in previous occasions, but he can of course only give part of his time to the work and it is not desirable that he should be hurried as long familiarity with the photographs enables him to detect minute facts which otherwise could escape attention. The drawing is not yet finished but Rucker believes it is near completion and has several times written to Wesley to enquire how he is proceeding. Hopes Sir George will therefore understand the delay. Rucker cannot fix a definite date for the publication of the paper.
